This is the face of surprise;

or rather, this is the delight the Flaco feels at a very small surprise like "I peeled you an orange!" So take that look and transfer it onto Matthew's face and onto my face and you are nowhere near picturing how surprised we are. Because we were surprised to the point of staring dumbfoundedly. Eyes wide open, staring up at the dark ceiling. Whispering. "For real? Are you really?" "Yeah, for real. Yes." "Uhh... Okay. Oh wow. Okay." "Yeah, okay, right? Okay!" And then all this slowly building, eyes shining in the dark like a pair of raccoons, hands held tightly. Breathing in the cold night air, letting it sink in. Aching to tell, aching to not. But we can refrain no longer; we're like Flaco and his orange. Excited and toothy kind of high-pitched. We're having a baby!

You might be in for more surprises if tradition is carried on. The last couple to live your house had 7 kids and the couple before them had 8 kids, three is a good start though!
Congrats neighbors!!

oh no no no no no!!!!! maybe it's time to move!!!
ps. we decided however we spell the baby's name, it will definitely be pronounced g-l-e-n. take for example the name samantha (which it won't be, but still.) silent s, silent a, silent everything but the n, add a gle and there you have it. ;)

How very fun! :) I'm so excited for the whole family! :)

You could always go with the more-easily-spelled "Glenda" -- just think of the poor little puddin' trying to remember all those silent letters in Samantha! :)

congratulations!! is it sad that the first thing i thought was "they should use cloth diapers!"!!??

The Goodfellas said...

thought about it, but our washer is too old! doesn't clean -regular- clothes all that well, so i definitely wouldn't try it on that! :o

bummer! I wonder if getting a new or used washer would be cheaper in the long run vs buying all those paper diapers.
